Easy Halloween Makeup Looks

So last week if I wasn't away I would have done this in a series but as it's Halloween TODAY it's going to have to be one whole blog post. So you can choose the one you like and read that or if you like all three I'm not gonna stop you go ahead and read them all.
So without me blagging on any more here are my easy (trust me if I can do them anyone can) Halloween makeup looks.

1) Mad Hatter

So this is inspired by the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. Now as you can see it is not exactly the same as Jonny Depp's but that's why I'm saying inspired ;)

So for my face I used Max Factor's Face Finity in the lightest colour light "Ivory" to make my skin pale because I feel it made the rest of my makeup stand out. I also used my regular concealer to cover any blemishes I wanted hidden.
Now I tried to use black eyeshadow to contour my cheeks but it just made me look like I had a beard so I ended up wiping it off but you can give it a go and see if you can make it work without looking like a man.
I also used my Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact in "Beige" to give myself a cartoony/non-real effect. I placed this above my cheek bones, the bridge of my nose and my chin.

Under my eyes I placed my NYX Blush in "Summer Peach" to make my eyes look crazy and tired. I also used my Estee Lauder Intense Lipcreme in "Hot Hot" beneath my lower lashes to add to this effect.

For my eyes I used all the colours in Maybelline's Diamond Glow in "Forest Drama". I used this palette  because I felt the green was quite wild and fitting for this character.
Simple break down:

  • Light green - lids and brought a little above the crease
  • Emerald green - creases
  • Dark green - outer corners and creases
  • Yellow - highlighter for the brow bone

No judging I'm bad at applying eyelashes

I put Maybelline's Master Duo in "black" above my top lashes (handy liquid eyeliner if you suck at eyeliner like me). Then I applied false lashes, any will do, but the weirder the better.

For cheeks and lips I applied Revlon's Lip Butter in "Tutti Fruiti" which I think makes you look crazier and similar to the lashes, the brighter the better.

I curled my hair and tied it in two pigtails, one high and one low to look messy and crazy.

2) Marilyn Monroe

So a slightly classy look, this is extremely simple and looks gorgeous.

I applied Estee Lauder Intense Lipcreme in "Hot Hot" beneath my lower lashes to add to this effect.. This gave me the flawless look Marilyn Monroe has.
I used my Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact in "Beige" to look more glowing aiming for that perfect skin she has. I placed this above my cheek bones, the bridge of my nose and my chin.

For my eyes I used two colours from the Maybelline Diamond Glow again in "Blue Drama".
Simple break down"
  • Silver - lids
  • Light blue - crease and outer corner

I then applied her signature mole to the right side of my face using a brown eye brow pencil, you can use anything for it (eyeliner, lip liner etc.)

For my lips I used Estee Lauder's Intense Lipcreme in "Hot Hot" for the perfect red lips she always had.

I curled my hair, of course you can cut your hair, pin it up or wear a wig but I decided to rock Maryiln Monroe with long hair. In other words my hair styling abilities are minimal.

3) Vampire

Scaring myself a little bit

Pale faced, blood thirsty and really quite frightening.

For my face I used Max Factor's Face Finity in the lightest colour light "Ivory" to make my skin pale and my regular concealer to cover any blemishes I wanted hidden. This made my face pale like a vampire's. You couldtry to use black eyeshadow to contour your face but like I said before I can't seem to do it right.

Onto the eyes I did the same thing under my eyes for this as I did for the Mad Hatter. I placed my NYX Blush in "Summer Peach" to make my eyes look crazy and tired. I also used my Estee Lauder Intense Lipcreme in "Hot Hot" beneath my lower lashes to add to this effect.

Next I used one colour out of the Maybelline's Diamond Glow "Blue Drama" (grey) and one from the Revlon Photoready "Graffiti" (black) to create a dark smokey look.
Simple breakdown:
  • Grey - lids and blended above crease to create a shadow
  • Black - crease and outer corners blended inwards

For my lips I blended Rimmel's Moisture Renew Lipstick in "Dark Night Waterl-Oops" (don't ask about the name I'm confused) and Revlon's Colorsensational in "Midnight Plum" to make my lips dark.
I used the Estee Lauder's Intense Lipcreme in "Hot Hot" for blood which I dripped down my chin from my mouth and I placed a splash on my cheek.

I curled my hair and then brushed it out for the sexy vampire look, I also think straightening your hair would look great with this look.

So there are all three, for one and two you could use face paint for the pale face and blood and contact lenses would look really cool but I hate touching my eyes so I left them out!!

Happy Halloween!!

Hardcore Cardio

Sorry for not posting yesterday, but having my flight delayed by four hours, then having a nine hour flight and then being stuck in four hours of traffic meant I didn't have much time to post so I do apologise.
But without further a due here is yesterday's blog...

If you want a red face and sweaty body keep reading this is one of the hardest workouts yet it's so simple, enjoy!!

First of all start with a quick 5 minute warm up. Something that gets your heart pumping whether it be light cardio - jogging, skipping, or even marching, or dynamic stretches - squats, leg/arm kicks/swings or lunges. Try to avoid static stretches, use them for your cool down. You can take longer if you wish to but it is not essential.

Next set two markers (use cones, shoes, lamp posts - whatever you like) around 10-20 metres apart from one and other, dependent on how fit you are. Name them in your head a and b.

1)
Run from a to b, touch the floor and jump up ONCE, run back to a.
Run from a to b, touch the floor and jump up - repeat TWICE, run back to a.
Repeat this and increase the semi-burpee each time until you reach TEN.

Have ONE-TWO minute break. (Be sure to hydrate in this time, keep moving and steady your breathing)

2)
Run from a to b, do ONE press-up - try and do full press ups as long as you can, even if you're slow you'll benefit in the long run, excuse the pun - stand up and run back to a.
Run from a to b, do TWO press-ups, stand up and run back to a.
Repeat this and increase the press-up number each time until you reach TEN again.

I think we all know what's coming.

3)
Run from a to b, squat down to touch the ground, jump up, get down, do your press-up, stand up and run back to a.
Run from a to b, squat down to touch the ground, jump up, get down, do your press-up, stand up, repeat ONCE more (total=2) and run back to a.
Repeat this and increase the number of burps each time until you reach TEN.

Take a ONE-TWO minute break.

4)
Sprint from a to b to a, do ONE tri-cep dip (either use a bench/chair or just lift your bum and do it on the floor), also have your legs as straight as possible for optimum workout and stand up.
Sprint from a to b to a, do TWO tri-cep dips and stand up.
Repeat again until you have increased the number of tri-cep dips to TEN.

ONE-TWO minute break.

5)
30 seconds of high knees, ONE minute of football drills (feet hip distance apart with knees bent, alternating lightly tapping the feet to the ground - fast paced, click here if you are unsure of the technique but don't copy her movements, stay on the spot) getting lower every 20 seconds. Repeat FOUR times (this whole section).

6) 30 second sprint at end.

Finally end with a cool down which incorporates deep breathing and static stretching to reduce muscle soreness tomorrow.

Should take around 45 minutes.

Last Day Pick Me Up

Losing track of the days here in St Lucia can't believe it's Saturday already I thought it was Friday oops. As I'm not home I can't do what I wanted to do which was a Halloween inspired makeup look so I'll post an extra blog next week before Thursday so you can give it a go for Halloween.

As it's the last day of my holiday :( I decided to get my nails done in the spa to cheer me up. All the woman were lovely and I absolutely love my nails. Now me having the memory of a fish means I forgot to ask the woman to write down the names of the polishes she used but I can tell you they were both Essie and one was a purple/pink with shimmer and one was big silver sparkles - that really doesn't help but to recreate the look you can find similar ones.

I absolutely adore this colour it's girly and will brighten up my day when I'm back in dreary old England.

*Sorry for the poor quality pictures - my camera is rubbish... mum and dad christmas present please?

As the internet here is sketchy when I get home I will try to find the names of the polishes for you guys - "Sure Shot" and "Set in Stones"

Back to normal/on time blogs next week - promise!!

We're All Going on a Fitness Holiday

This week my mum (salsa as I call her) and I are staying at
The Body in St Lucia. My friend came to the resort this summer and I've heard non-stop about how great it was. The food, the activities, the treatments, the fitness, the list goes on.
For Salsa's birthday we decided to come here as a special treat as we are both into our fitness and beauty. I arrived only yesterday and already I am so impressed. The fitness regime looks fantastic, the activities - water sports, hiking, swimming, cycling - look great fun and the food... Let's just say I'm ready for dinner and I haven't even had breakfast :)

Our room is perfect with picturesque views on can only dream of, palm trees, clear blue sea and sky and fit lifeguards strolling around. Sounds weird but even the smell of this place (or perhaps just St. Lucia in general) is insanely good. The staff are all extremely friendly and there are no kids screaming as this time of the year you must be 16 or above - perfect for relaxing.

The other thing I'm really excited about is, it's Octoba Yoga. They have added in extra yoga classes for this month only with guest teachers and different styles which I am really excited to try because I want to start yoga to gain my flexibility back.

Last night we were exhausted after the 9 hour flight and with England being 6 hours ahead of St Lucia, we chilled. Had some afternoon tea, a little look around, watched a beautiful sunset, had some dinner and hit the sack. Waking up at 6:00am here.

We've got a list of activities we want to do today and we're ready to go!

I've got a feeling this is going to be a good holiday!!

Upmarket Yet Cheap... Don't Mind If I Do

So the latest fashion trend I've spotted on lots of celebs is the Burberry heart print shirt. I am absolutely in love with this top because,
I love burberry and I love Burgundy.
Two of my favourite words!!

The likes of Victoria Beckham, Harry Styles, Abbey Clancy and Helen Flanagan have been seen in the latest attire.

Here's a cheaper option which looks just as good but £350 less from Topshop.
Enjoy!!

Squat Till You Drop

We all want the perfect bum! The best way to get it is to do a multitude of squats. This routine is tough so build it up if you need to. Make it easier by playing some music or watching tv whilst doing it.
Add weights to increase resistance.

Good Luck Girls!!

*Tip: Legs wide apart to work outside of legs (and bum). Legs hip width apart/feet together to work inside of legs.

Picking Eyeshadows Right for your Eyes

Picking eyeshadows that suit your eye colour is difficult, so I'm going to make it a hell of a lot easier by telling you which colour is right for you.

Time to get artistic, let's take a look at the colour wheel...

There are two basic rules for eyeshadows, the complimentary and the contrasting rule.
The complimentary rule means using colours next to your eye colour on the wheel.
The contrasting rule means using colours opposite your eye colour. Contrasting colours are a great way to highlight the eye and make it a dominant feature.

Blue Eyes:
For those of you, like me, that have blue eyes you should use eye shadows with undertones of blue, blue-purple and blue-green or to really make your eyes pop. For dominance use colours with undertones of orange, orange-red and orange yellow.

Green Eyes:
Those of you with green eyes, should use eye shadows with undertones of green, blue-green and yellow-green on the contrary you can use reds, red-purple and orange-red to make those emerald beauties pop.

Brown and Grey Eyes:
With brown and grey eyes you have to look closely at the eye for orange or yellow flecks in the iris.
If you have orange flecks, you should use gold and light beiges with an over layer of orange to compliment the eye. For a contrast apply purples.
Whereas if you have yellow flecks in the eye, use greens or for a more subtle look use golds or light browns. To make your eyes stand out use pinks and purples.
However a lot of colours suit grey/brown eyes so experiment and see which flatters you the most.

Hazel Eyes:
Hazel eyes are a little bit tricky as they're a combination of brown and green, sometimes with gold undertones. By choosing the dominant colour you can apply the rules of the colour wheel when buying eye shadows. Complimentary colours are greens and blues. Contrasting colours are reds, pinks and oranges.
